The task was to create and animate a character that has a follow through element. I decided to make mine a simple bird, the follow through element being the comb.

This is the final render:

My process was rather complicated because I wanted to add a lot of elements in my animation.

These are my character concept and animation planning drawings:

Even from the beginning I planned to work with layers. I decided to do that mainly because I had many loops in the animation, like the rocks that disappear in the background, the flying in the beginning and even the rotation of the face. After I finished drawing the frames, I decided to load them into After Effects and overlay them by setting the blending mode to "multiply".

This is an example of the layers involved:

T4ANIP Ex 04 Bouncing ball (Ping Pong ball)

In this exercise we were asked to make another ball animation. The first ball was a tennis ball, and the second one needed to be a ping pong ball.

I decided to draw the animation of the second ball on the same paper of my first animation. This helped in comparing the two balls and also saved paper.

Planning the animation:

In the following video we can see the difference in the behavior of each ball (the ping pong ball is shaded). We can clearly see that the ping pong ball is not as bouncy and does not stretch and squash as much as the tennis ball because of the material that it's made of.
