University of Portsmouth - Animation Yr. 3 - Advanced Pre-Production Methods
For the initial pitch I presented a story which was inspired by one of my friends, who is a sculptress.
Idea outline:
After a while, the sculpture (referred to as Apollo), falling in love with its creator, becomes alive and starts moving, scaring the girl. She falls off her chair and crawls backwards only to find that another sculpture is also moving. She faints immediately.
She wakes up dizzy, at night time, and the second sculpture helps her get up. Apollo invites her to a Waltz. They start dancing and with each touch, Apollo becomes more refined. Because of the dance, and the evolution of the sculpture, the room becomes dirty.
The dance ends, and the girl is feeling sleepy. Apollo helps her sit on a chair and then goes back to his pedestal and sits down, adopting the pose of “The thinker”.
Come morning, the janitor comes back, sees the mess and becomes angry. He stomps towards the girl, but then he sees the statue, which impresses and makes him accept his fate: he will have to clean up the whole mess.
