Trick or treat! Starting from a sphere primitive, I modeled a a pumpkin. By using Booleans -> Difference I managed to sculpt the shape of the eyes and mouth. It is a powerful tool indeed, but sometimes it affects the mesh and may need a lot of cleaning up. It has its ups and downs.
"Let there be light!"
For a nice render result I placed a point light inside the mesh, and a parallel light outside.
