CT4INVRA - Painting with photo reference 3 - uneasy composition

University of Portsmouth - Animation Yr. 1 - Introduction To Visual Research For Animation

For this exercise I took pictures with uneasy compositions.
The feeling of unease is given by the lack of the rules in the picture:the rule of thirds was not applied, the horizon line is tilted, and the cyclist is placed right at the edge of the picture.

A lot of distortion can be seen in my painting because I jumped straight to painting instead of properly planning the composition by using perspective lines/ grids. I chose to do that because I wanted to train my eyes to see mistakes.

The first version seemed flat and lacked depth so I decided to add more contrast to the painting.
